Standard breaker ratings (6–63 A), B/C/D tripping curves and selection by load type.
Circuit breakers come in rated currents: 6, 10, 13, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63 A. For household wiring, 10, 16, 25, 32 A are most common.
| Type | Instantaneous tripping | Application |
|---|---|---|
| B | 3–5 × In | Lighting, sockets (resistive load) |
| C | 5–10 × In | Motors, air conditioners, washing machines, fridges |
| D | 10–20 × In | Transformers, large motors, welding equipment |
| Load | Power | Recommended breaker |
|---|---|---|
| Lighting | up to 2.2 kW | 10 A (B) |
| Sockets | up to 3.5 kW | 16 A (B) |
| AC / washing machine | up to 2.5 kW | 16 A (C) |
| Stove / oven | up to 6 kW | 32 A (B/C) |
| Main supply | up to 7 kW | 32 A |
| Main supply | up to 11 kW | 50 A (or 3-phase) |
