Conductor protection (240.4–240.6)

240.4 Breaker rating must not exceed conductor ampacity.

240.4(D) 15 A — 14 AWG; 20 A — 12 AWG.

240.6 Standard ratings: 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250… 600 A.

Taps (240.21)

Short taps (≤ 3 m) without protection under conditions; 7.5 m taps with extra rules.

Placement (240.24)

240.24(A) Breaker handles ≤ 2.0 m above floor; not over stairs; not in bathrooms.
